Myrtles Plantation ~ from wikipedia the free encyclopedia
It was built in 1794 by David Bradford on Tunica Indian burial ground and has been known to have at least 12 to15 ghosts
The house went through hands over time and eventually was owned by Bradford's daughter Sara and her husband Judge Clark Woodruffe
Judge Woodruff and a slave girl by the name of Chloe had an affair and over time the judges attention wondered and went to another slave girl...
Chloe was caught by her master listening at the door to some "Private" matters going on between the judge and this new slave girl
Chloe was punished by having her ear cut off...She wore a bandanna from that day forward to conceal her missing ear.
Fear set in as work in the fields faced her now and she knew she had to do something to ensure herself needed in the household.
She came up with a plan to make her Mistress Sara sick as well as Sara's 2 daughters,
baking a cake with oleander leaves. All 3 of them died.
The judge was spared because he did not eat the cake.
Chloe ran to the slaves and begged them for help but being afraid they ran her out.
She ran into the woods but was soon found and hung in the front yard of Myrtles Plantation.
Chloe is said now to haunt the Plantation with Sara and her 2 daughters
Strange sounds, the piano playing by itself and the sound of babies crying can be heard at Myrtles.
